I just found out today about a former coworker's indie studio today, Studio Ursa!!
They've got a pilot out called My Wife the Monster and it's a LOT of fun! The animation is glorious, the concept is so fun and cute, but also so effective at being SPOOOKY! I'm so jealous of Jake's FX animation powers ToT
Jake also created The Yolk Bros, which is SO funny and SOOOO well done!! xD
here are a few reels i really liked!! The acting is SOOOO GOOOOD and the writing is really wholesome and sweet! It's a himbo paradise!
Does your body remind you if you don't go to the gym?
Do you let yourself feel your feelings?"
Anyway, if you're looking for some new wholesome and well-crafted animation content, I definitely recommend giving them a follow!! Studio Ursa has a lot of really sick stuff coming down the pipe, it's run by really cool people with the right idea about making collaborative art. it's about having fun and being yourself!! FUCK YES!!
And if you're still craving some animation, my friend DeLon just finished an updated trailer for his studio's project, Rainbow Floor!! The animation is SOOOO clean and excellent!! :D
You can see the updated trailer on the Midnight Oil Animation instagram, or on DeLon's site along with other cool projects he's worked on!
And if you haven't seen Rainbow Floor yet, you GOTTA check it out!!
My friend Thad finished an animated pilot! It's SOOOO good!!
He's also an incredibly talented storyboard artist and illustrator. His sketches are INCREDIBLE!! Definitely check out the rest of his work too!
My friend Ridge's animatic for his pilot, Puppy Garden, is up!! ITS FANTASTIC!!
and!! big news--my friend Ridge is making a pilot! you can watch his announcement vid and subscribe here:
he's also planning on streaming the pilot production on his twitch, if you wanna see how the cake is baked! and in the future, you can find him in my links on the side! ->
speaking of cool animation stuff on youtube, this week's interesting thing is this test animation and animatic from a cancelled netflix pilot! it's 2d animation superimposed over fruit puppets and is one of the most inventive things i've ever seen. It's for a Neo-noir called "Pulp" and the characters are fruit, so when they get beat up and stuff they just get all mashed up like actual fruits and veggies. It's so inventive and fun!!
CW: NSFW themes & alcoholism
Also, a new pilot animatic for the show "Strawberry Vampire" was released today!! It's so cute, fun, and full of heart!! The music is really fantastic too!
if u need a respite from all the halloween spookiness around you, the Whatever Happened to Robot Jones? Reanimated project is such a fun watch!! i fully enjoyed every animator's style and perspective!!!
AAAAND the Wheels and Roses trailer uploaded today!!! OMFG. SICK ASS DRAGON RACE TRACK!?!?! WTF ARE U WAITING FOR WATCH NOW!!!!
Last week was music youtube shoutouts, here's some animation youtube shoutouts! I'd also recommend following all these creators, though some of them post very infrequently!
#MoStopMo, a channel a friend introduced me to last week that screens stop motion films and interviews artists! Their digital film festivals are TOP NOTCH in quality!
A Studio Digital posts shorts by lots of different artists and they're SO MUCH FUN! I love all of them!
Moss Lawton's Fritz animatic, based on their series of Graphic Novels Hellaween!
Aimee Steinberger's really sick Our Flag Means Death music video animatic!
Brianne Drouhard has lots of cool stuff on her channel, but I specifically love her painting process vids! She occasionally will stream on twitch too, so if you like really soothing vids of people inking or painting I really recommend her twitch as well!
Miguel Baltazar is a storyboard artist at Walt Disney Feature studios and posts his animatics and process breakdowns!
I'm sure I forgot some super cool ones but I can always do another post later. if you're craving more cool animation work, also be sure to check out the things I have listed in the sidebar!!
I stumbled on this youtube channel uploading their old creepypasta animation content:
Their work is so earnest and fun! It really brings me back to 2010s youtube in the most delightful way.
I found this youtube channel that does music videos & little skits--it's SO inspiring and fun. I love their animation style and original music!
and this is a song i can't stop listening to right now!
i've added a new buddy to my sidebar! A friend of mine has been working on his indie project and they released a trailer recently that goes SO HARD!! i love it!
